My little guy must have been the youngest attendee at Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week this year. He certainly enjoyed himself with all the attention that he was attracting pre, post and in-between shows. He was such a good boy for the most part of fashion week and I am sure he will appreciate all these photos when he is a little older!

Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week saw the world’s top fashion bloggers converging at Carriageworks for a week of fun and fashion. I was delighted to meet the lovely Nicole Warne (garypeppergirl), Jessica Stein (Tuula Vintage), duo Tash Sefton and Elle Ferguson (theyallhateus), model turned photographer Zanita Morgan  and beauty writer Eleanor Pendleton. I was fortunate to have had moments with each of these beauties in between and post-runway shows to be able to get a few snaps with them and also to capture them in their natural state. It was definitely a week filled with fun memories!

Words cannot describe how beautiful the Alice McCall runway show was at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Australia. An industrial warehouse at Carriageworks was turned into a winter wonderland for the spectacular 10th anniversary show. “In my dreams we were flying” set the scene for this new collection. The stunning set-up and display in the middle of the warehouse featured bones, skulls and planets amongst other items to signify how random our dreams can be. The collection carried Alice McCall’s true signature style, with beautiful embroidered dresses and playsuits and the cutest smacking lip prints with added quirkiness that can only come from Alice.

I could see myself in every outfit that walked past on the catwalk. Special guest Nicole Warne (better known as garypeppergirl) was dressed in a runway piece and looked stunning in Alice McCall.

We’ve stocked Bec & Bridge since 2007 and the label has been getting stronger and stronger. When it comes to Saturday night party dresses, Bec & Bridge has it down pat. Their latest collection titled Due North is “About our girl being a nomad. A sensual and bohemian traveller who has traversed the globe and created her look over time.”

True to its theme, the collection interprets the traveller theme with chambray fabrics in all shades of indigo, and textures – shredded and hand-woven denim, as well as  a raw, unhemmed finish to many of the looks.

Despite the boho feel of the collection , the quintessential Bec & Bridge look still gets a look in. The label’s famous body con dresses have taken a on a whole new  grown up look and feel. Dusty, powder blue dresses and midriff baring white minis as well as black and white pinstripes and skirts of all lengths with asymmetric hemlines.

On the accessories front, Bec & Bridge also designed mesh peeptoe heeled booties which the models wore on the runway. Fingers crossed, the girls will also be making those booties for sale to the public!

Aurelio Costarella is one of Australia’s premier evening wear designers.  With show notes foreshadowing a contemporary interpretation of 1920s and 1930s Parisienne silhouettes, Aurelio sent out sleek column gowns with softly-fluted hems and the occasional short-and-sweet mini dress completed the line-up. It won’t be long before we see these gowns walk the red carpet, given the Logies (Australia’s equivalent to the Emmy Awards) are just around the corner.

Doesn’t Rachel Finch look stunning in the Argon Long Sleeve Dress by Bec & Bridge? Rachel wore this dress to the opening show of Australian Fashion Week last night and wore it perfectly. Keeping accessories to a minimum and make up soft and subtle, we think Rachel shone in the dress.

The Argon Long Sleeve Dress will arrive online and instore in mid to late April.

alex and alessandra // fashion week 2014

In a coup for Alex Perry (and Australian Fashion Week 2014), Alessandra Ambrosio will be walking in Alex Perry’s much anticipated show.  A stalwart of Australian fashion, Alex has been receiving international attention recently, dressing Giuliana Rancic in a striking tangerine gown for the Grammys red carpet.

Alessandra, as you well know, is a Victoria Secret Angel/supermodel, who coincidentally has recently designed and launched her first clothing line, simply called Ale.

The combination of Alessandra wearing Alex’s creations should be stunning and will no doubt make for one of the best (if not the best) shows of this Australian Fashion Week. Can. Not. Wait.
