tory burch | exclusive cocktail party resort 2014 launch

Manet (the French artist from the 19th Century) and Morocco (the North African country) are both behind the inspiration of the Resort 2014 Collection by Tory Burch. The ethnic prints, floral undertones and bird prints were all reminiscent of the designer’s trip to Morocco which were captured in the Resort 2014 Collection. The watercolors of the era of the Impressionists (brought to light by Manet) were also dominant with hues of soft, feminine colours on the dresses and skirts in this collection.

Tory Burch made a special visit to Singapore on 24 October 2013 to host an exclusive cocktail party at her boutique in Wisma Astria on Orchard Road to launch her Resort 2014 collection. It was a star-studded event with local celebrities, media personalities and invited guests all vying for a few minutes with beautiful designer. Tory Burch was ever so gracious in meeting each of her guests, chatting and politely allowing her guests to be photographed with her.

Guests were treated to a live DJ during the event and a personal close-up look at the Resort 2014 Collection with models walking through the crowd dressed in the new collection. The cocktail party was immaculately organized with free flowing champagne and canapes served to guests by enthusiastic service staff. It was certainly an event to be remembered!

Here are some pictures of the event that I captured during the night:

FIDe fashion weeks singapore | runway shows (part II)

Firstly, a big thank you to the team behind FIDe Fashion Weeks ( for putting together such a memorable event. It was a huge 11 days of runway shows with some of the best Asian and European Haute Couture and Ready-To-Wear fashion designers.  It was a privilege to have been invited to one of the most beautiful fashion events and it was great to see Singapore hosting such a major event.

It was a wonderful experience for me as I got to meet so many lovely people in the fashion industry, all of whom were so friendly and humble.  From local celebrities, to fashion editors, to simply the socialites of Singapore (ie. those who get invited to A-list events), it was definitely an enlightening experience.

On my last night at FIDe Fashion weeks, I attended 3 runway shows. These were Moiselle (Hong Kong), Germain (France) and Ari Dein (USA). Moiselle’s collection was feminine and elegant, with intricate lace and beading embracing the dresses which flowed delicately off the runway. Germain’s collection was one of clean and sleek lines with structured jackets tapering the silhouette of a woman’s body.

In my opinion,  the most amazing show of the night was by American designer, Ari Dein.  An exquisite fine lingerie label, Ari Dein was founded by Arielle Shapiro in 2009.  Her designs of luxurious lingerie and sleepwear exudes an art-deco feel, with many of her designs being featured on shows such as Gossip Girl and fashion magazines such as Vogue and Elle.

As a treat, guests were treated to a beautiful selection of cupcakes, macaroons and delectable desserts before the runway show took place. The show had a very different look and feel to the rest of the shows that I had previously attended.  Under the spotlight of huge gigantic chandeliers, the stage took place within an enclosed circle where models took to the runway by walking around the VIPs that were seated on plush, red sofas.

I managed to capture a few pictures of the runway show to share with you.  Hope you enjoy them!

Well, that marks the end of FIDe Fashion Weeks for 2013! It has been a wonderful experience and I look forward to doing it all over again next year! I hope you have enjoyed my re-caps, pictures and comments! xoxo
